1 · Who we are
Activo is a social activity platform operated by Mostafa Wafik, of Cairo, Egypt. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at privacy@activo.social.
2 · What we collect
What you give us
| Account details | Name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in readable form), and your profile photo if you add one. |
| Phone number | Optional. Used so people who already have your number can find you, and so operators can reach you about a booking. |
| Profile information | Your bio, your interests, and the city or area you choose to show. |
| Content you create | Posts, photos, comments, circle messages, direct messages, activity logs, challenges, and activity listings if you are an operator. |
| Bookings and payment proof | Which activities you booked, and any screenshot or reference you upload as proof of payment to an operator. |
| Operator application | If you apply to become an operator: your business name, public page or website, categories, years of experience and description. |
| Messages to us | Anything you send through Contact us, including what screen you were on when you sent it. |
What we collect as you use Activo
| Approximate location | The area you are in, so Discover can show activities near you. We do not track your precise position in the background, and we do not record where you go. |
| Usage data | Which screens you open, what you tap, what you search for and what you book — used to rank Discover and to work out what is broken. |
| Device and technical data | Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and crash reports. |
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment card or bank details. Payment for activities happens directly between you and the operator, outside Activo — we only record that you say you paid and that the operator confirms it. We do not buy data about you from other companies, and we do not track you across other apps or websites for advertising.
3 · Why we collect it
- To run the service — create your account, show you activities, let you book, message and post.
- To rank Discover — your interests, your area and what you have booked decide what you are shown.
- To connect you to people — showing which people you know are going to something is a core part of what Activo is for.
- To keep Activo safe — investigating reports, enforcing the community guidelines, and preventing fraud and abuse.
- To support you — answering your messages, and fixing what crashes.
- To meet legal obligations where they apply.
We rely on the performance of our agreement with you for most of this, on our legitimate interest in a safe and working product for safety and improvement, and on your consent for anything optional — such as location access, which you can refuse and later change in your device settings.
4 · Who can see what
This is the part most people actually want to know.
| Your public profile | Name, photo, bio and interests. Visible to anyone on Activo, subject to your privacy settings. |
| Your posts | Visible to the audience you chose when you posted. |
| Circle messages | Visible only to the members of that circle. |
| Direct messages | Visible to you and the person you sent them to. They are not end-to-end encrypted, and we can access them when investigating a report. |
| Your bookings | The operator sees your name, profile photo and contact details for the activity you booked, and the payment proof you uploaded. |
| Your phone number | Never shown on your profile. Used for discovery, and shared with an operator only when you book something they run. |
| Your exact location | Never shown to anyone. Only the area you choose to display appears on your profile. |
Your privacy settings in the app control who can find you, who can see your activity, and who can message you. Blocking someone takes effect immediately.
5 · Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these cases:
- Operators you book with — as described above, and only for that booking.
- Service providers who run parts of Activo for us — hosting, push notifications, email delivery, crash reporting and analytics. They process data on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith that someone is at risk of serious harm.
- A future buyer, if Activo is ever sold or merged — you would be told before your data moved.
Some of our providers are outside Egypt, which means your data may be stored or processed abroad. We use providers that offer appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
6 · How long we keep it
| While your account is open | We keep your account data and content. |
| After you delete your account | Your profile, posts and messages are deleted within 30 days. |
| Backups | May retain deleted data for up to 90 days before they cycle out. |
| Safety records | Where an account was removed for a serious breach, we keep a minimal record so the same person cannot immediately return. |
| Legal and financial records | Kept as long as the law requires. |
7 · Your choices and your rights
You can, at any time:
- See and edit your profile and privacy settings in the app.
- Turn location access off in your device settings — Discover still works, less well.
- Turn notifications off.
- Ask us for a copy of your data.
- Ask us to correct something that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your account and your data.
- Object to processing we base on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent you gave, without affecting what happened before.
Write to privacy@activo.social or use Contact us in the app. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Egyptian Data Protection Centre.
8 · Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app — Settings, then Delete account. You do not need to email us, and you do not need to ask permission. Deletion removes your profile, your posts and your messages within 30 days, as described above.
9 · Security
Connections to Activo are encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed. Access to personal data inside Activo is limited to the people who need it to run the service, and administrative actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.
10 · Children
Activo is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child is using Activo, tell us and we will remove the account.
11 · Changes to this policy
If we change something significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows when this was last changed.
